IATA 7.4 – Loading and unloading aircraft and ULD's

About this training

The safe and efficient transportation of dangerous goods by air requires competent personnel, meaning that employees must be trained in the functions for which they are responsible - whether or not this is stated in the job description. This is best achieved through competency-based training and assessment (CBTA).

For whom?
Personnel responsible for the handling of dangerous goods in warehouses and loading and unloading of aircraft and ULDs, as per IATA's DGR - section 1.5 and in accordance with function 7.4 in IATA's 'Dangerous Goods Training Guidance'.
This training was previously known as categories 5 and 8 in the IATA DGR training requirements.

Course content
The key topics that are covered during this course include:

  • understanding the basics of the transport of dangerous goods by air;
  • recognizing dangerous goods;
  • planning and preparing loading for aircraft;
  • loading and unloading of dangerous goods on/from aircraft and ULDs;
  • reporting dangerous goods accidents.

Course materials

  • This course requires students to have access to the latest edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • The E-learning is interactive where possible accompanied with images, making the explanations easy to follow.
  • If desired, the course can be interrupted at any time. If the course is then restarted, it continues where it left off.

Duration of course

  • Course constist out of 4 to 6 hours of e-learning.
