About this training
The safe and efficient transportation of dangerous goods by air requires competent personnel, meaning that employees must be trained in the functions for which they are responsible - whether or not this is stated in the job description. This is best achieved through competency-based training and assessment (CBTA).
For whom
This course is recommended for 'Personnel responsible for preparing, handling or accepting Radioactive consignments for transport by air’ according to IATA's DGR - section 1.5 and in accordance with function 7.1 & 7.3 in IATA's Dangerous Goods Training Guidance.

- Introduction to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Classification and identification of radioactive materials
- Packaging options and limitation of quantities
- Packing Instructions
- Marking and Labelling
- Overpacks
- Documentation
- Reporting to appropriate authorities as required
Course materials
The course is given on the basis of the latest edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, the handbook used in practice by the aviation industry for the transport of dangerous goods by air. This handbook is on loan for participants for the duration of the course. In addition, each participant receives an extensive course book, in which the material is clearly discussed and explained in the English language. This course book contains a large number of exercises that prepare the student for the exam.
Course prerequisite
To attend this initial training, the student must first complete an awareness training that is part of this training via an online module or be in possession of a similar certification

- The training consist out of two (2) days of classroom training
