About the Training
When working with hazardous substances, at least one competent person must always be present to ensure compliance with regulations and to supervise the handling of substances. This course focuses on raising awareness of risks and teaching proper response actions in the event of incidents such as fires or leaks. This training is mandatory according to PGS 15:2016 guideline 3.14 or PGS 15 new style, measure 85, for companies storing more than 2,500 kg of hazardous substances.
Who is it for?
This course is intended for employees of storage and transshipment companies, freight forwarding companies, distribution centers, and chemical companies involved in the handling of dangerous goods. Typical roles include foreman, warehouse manager, and expedition supervisor.
Course Content
Topics include:
An examination is conducted at the end of the course by Special Cargo College. Upon successful completion, the participant receives the Certificate of Competence for Handling of Hazardous Substances, which is valid for five years. Participants with dyslexia or limited proficiency in Dutch can take the exam orally.

- Overview of national and international legislation
- Properties, classification, and labeling of hazardous substances
- Proper handling of packaging, storage, and co-loading
- Important documents and administrative obligations
- Guidelines according to PGS 15 and practical application
- Emergency response: fire fighting and use of PPE
- Basic training: 4 days in-class
- Refresher training: 2.5 days in-class
